Suzette Soloman Bio

Born and raised in Nanaimo, BC, Gwaii Urban Wear designer Suzette Soloman has been preparing for a career in fashion since taking a two-year Fashion Merchandising program in high school. This led to Kwantlen University College’s Fashion Design and Technology degree program, from which Suzette graduated in 2005.

An aboriginal member of the Haida Nation, Suzette’s interest in her culture has always influenced her designs. Her fascination for Native art stemmed from watching her uncles carve at a very young age.

Her women’s clothing collections combine contemporary and stylish silhouettes with Native references. The result is a unique twist on fresh, wearable art pieces for a young and stylish clientele. This affordable collection provides cultural interest while maintaining the urban, fashion forward thinking of the younger generation.
